Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grades had a fantastic day at Flying Y Farms! Many of the Pre-K and Kinder kids were super excited about riding a school bus for the first time! DeAnn Yates took the students through her high tunnels and explored all of the gardens. They even got to eat a farm fresh carrot and feed the tops to the chickens! They learned about beneficial bugs and harmful bugs and weeds. Samantha Borgstedt had fresh pumpkin, pecan, and banana bread for the students to sample, as well as pear and peach jams made from homegrown fruit. The students learned about the fresh ingredients used to make the breads! They got to see a cotton plant up close and touch the fiber and seeds. Thank you to Flying Y Farms for hosting this event! We look forward to many more educational field trips with you!
